Bear Blog Takeover

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

Hey friends! It's Tuesday and I happened to miss the Boyfriend Blog takeover link-up so I decided to make up my own interview for my boyfriend (bear). I made up some questions and he answered them and wants everyone to no this is the Bear interview unplugged (he didn't edit or backspace any of this. All of it is pure Bear)

So come read all about the bear on the blog today!

1. What did you think of my blog when I first told you that I had a blog and what did you think when you first saw it?? - I thought it was pretty cool, I didn't really know much about the blogging world. Then when I saw it I was really interested because there were elephants everywhere but I was really confused because the blog had nothing to do with Elephants. That's when I learned about Lilly Pulitzer.

2. If you could eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be and why? Mac and Cheese, because it's mac and cheese....but I'd probably get really fat eating it...No regrets.

3. Do you have a favorite post on the blog?? My favorite post was the Monday Madness post that involved the week after Valentines day, because you were so excited....and I was in it a lot. Oh also all the posts I did.

4. What's your favorite date from when we first started dating? I liked our chili's date because it was a relaxed date and we were playing footsies the entire time, plus the food was really good.

5. If you could have any superpower or create any super power what would it be and why?
I have always wanted the ability for telekinesis because I wanna be able to summon things that are out of arms reach for me.

I like bagels.

That's all for this lovely Tuesday folks!

Wanna ask your boyfriend these questions?? DO IT! and then save this picture and put it in the post because you're cool.

Keep Calm and Carry On

On Thankfulness

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Recently I have been feeling a little stressed (nothing this girl can't handle) but stressed none-the-less. Like good golly miss molly calm down for a hot second no one asked you to get so intense!

But sometimes (for me anyways) stress can lead to negative energy and negative attitudes. Which are absolutely no good for anyone. About two years ago my dad did this thing for himself: he made a gratitude list. Which sounds so simple but it honestly might be the best thing I've ever heard (this coming from a girl who lives off lists). Whenever he started feeling down, upset, worried, lonely, or feeling ungrateful himself. He pulls out this list and it puts his little world that he has for himself in perspective. So, he has inspired me to make my own. (if you are reading this, hi Dad, you're awesome).

So here goes my gratitude list:

1. I can shower and take long bubble baths
2. I live less than 5 mins from two grocery stores, a starbucks, tons of restaurants and less than 20 mins away from Bears work.
3. I have two amazing loving parents who have taught me responsibility, compassion, love, and so much more.
4. I have a washer and dryer
5. I have a running functional car.
6. I have a phone and tons of cases to put on it
7. I have a computer that allows me to get school work done, watch t.v., and blog.
8. I have the best Bear in all the forest (in case you kids didn't know I call David *my boyfriend* Bear*
9. I have amazing friends who always lift me up
10. I am getting a college education
11. I have two sets of grandparents.
12. I have two awesome dogs who know how to make me laugh and smile. (oh hey I got another dog guys)
13. I have hobbies like this blog, and playing various nerdtastic games
14. I have an awesome cousin and her mother (my aunt) is the best person ever.
15. I am healthy, with two awesome functioning knees (I had ACL surgery a year and some change ago)
16. I am actively trying to find an internship
17. I have never wanted for ANYTHING and I have always been taken care of.
18. I have food on the table every day
19. I have a 'sister' --- Rachael who always understands me and gets me
20. I have a bed to sleep on every night.
21. I have a t.v to watch t.v on (with cable...this is a new addition)
22. I have more clothes than I know what to do with (time to donate, if we are being honest)
23. I have my next door neighbors who I call family, they are always there for me even though they don't have to be.
24. I have a room designated for studying.
25. I have medicine/and/or a doctor to cure my sicknesses and check to make sure I am healthy.

There is honestly so much more that I am thankful for but, I have to get back to the grind (more to come later I promise.)

Until then. I will look at this list when I am feeling down and I will begin to realize that life truly is lovely and is meant to be enjoyed not stressed about.

What are you thankful for? Shoot me an email or comment below!

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Hey kids! Its Hump Day!! Which means it's time to boogie because it's almost the weekend!

So, I've been doing a lot of thinking of things I want to do or things I have been hesitant to do.
So I have decided to make a list and then blog about them (duh). I am aware my birthday was what...in September and I needed a goal date to have these things done by so I picked my birthday.

1. Sing Kareoke or do an open mic night (anyone play guitar or play piano?)
2. Put half of my paycheck into savings each week (this will be ongoing)
3. Do more volunteer work
4. Lost 20 pounds
5. Network with local companies for social media, blogging, and expanding their businesses
6. Run a 5k or a 10k
7.  Get an internship
8. Organize bombshell (my victory car)
9. Organize my closet and my room (give away some things to charity)
10. Go camping with Bear.

That's it folks.
I hope you are all having a wonderful Hump Day!

p.s have any other ideas for me (or bear and me) to try?  Or any new ideas?? Leave me some love below.

I'm a Northern Girl In a Southern World

Monday, April 7, 2014

I am from the North (Chicago to be exact), I moved to Atlanta when I was 6 years old so, you know, I am part northerner-part southerner. But, if we are being honest here I am mainly a northerner with some southern twang.

So what's it like being a girl in the South who isn't a southern bell?
Well I am about to tell you.

I love, LOVE, hockey. Don't even get me started, (if you ever want to have a rambling conversation with me bring up hockey, trust me I can ramble on and on about hockey *not a drill*. When I tell people how much I love hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks they look at me and basically say "if it's not college football I don't watch it". (truth be told I am starting to understand the football a little better). People don't understand hockey around here, when I say hockey I get tilted heads and then asked "Does Georgia have a hockey team???" Ugh. No. And that's a story you don't want me to get into.

PUBLIX. This may come as a surprise but Publix is a wonderful place filled with smiles and wonderful service. At this magical fairy tale land the employees ask you how your day is going, they smile (ALOT) at you, and they even go above and beyond to help you. Back home at a Jewel-Osco or at a Cubs Foods (if those even still exist) you went in got your groceries and left: there was no side talk, or excessive (if any) smiling. Publix's motto is "where shopping is a pleasure" Well Jewel-Osco might as well be "Get in. Get your stuff. Get out." A little side story...When my mom and I went to Publix for the first time, the cashier was asking us all these questions about our day, our lives ect. and it really, really freaked out my mom. (BUT, now everyone at our local publix knows us and she loves it).

Sweet Tea....Something we just don't have up north, and if we do have it...it just doesn't taste right. It took me about 10 years of living here before I really started liking sweet tea, I didn't understand the concept....putting sugar in leaf water??? I mean okay you do you Georgia.....But, of course, now I love it. (especially the kind you get from Publix).

Sir, and Ma'am.  my dad HATES being called sir. While in the South kids are brought up saying yes sir, and yes ma'am to their parents and elders, up north sir and ma'am make people feel old, and usually it's used as a sarcastic come back. (note: don't call my dad Sir, he will correct you *not a drill*).

Now, when I first moved down here and for years. I thought "bless your heart" was a good thing. Like oh I feel sorry for you, or oh goodness that really sucks. But, NO, it actually means something like "wow you're stupid", "I don't care at all", "why are you telling me this", "maybe this conversation will end now", "I secretly don't like you but I am too nice and southern to say anything". It's the most confusing thing, but really easy to start doing (real talk I do it. not gonna lie). But up north, people tell you exactly how it is, if they like you or don't like you, and usually it has no class, it's just straight up honest. OR we are just like "long hair don't care...moving on".

Now don't get me wrong I love the south and I love southern customs, but I am still getting my bearings when it comes to southern life. This girl may just turn into a snorthern bell (get it?)

Are you a transplant from the north to the south...or visa versa?

Keep Calm and Carry On
