Your Weekend Was Cooler Than Mine

Monday, June 30, 2014

Well hey friends! I have decided to tell you all about my not so exciting weekend.

Real talk, I did relatively nothing. But I did do some interesting things this weekend.

Friday was filled with Friday Night Magic, and playing my new commander deck. (If you don't know what magic is, it's this fun nerdy card game).

Saturday I did nothing too eventful: I went shopping *cue ahh of your oooo's and ahhhh's*

I advdentured around Nordstrom AND Nordstrom's Rack. I bought some new mascara at Nordstrom....and some awesome Tiffany blue Ked's at Nordstrom's Rack. (they were on super sale so I snatched those). I tried on these Sam Edelman sandals and I really, really want them.

Of course I've done homework, since I am taking summer classes. I can't express enough how much I want these classes to be over.

On a serious note: I joined Weight Watchers on Saturday and you should be expecting a fully loaded blog post this week about my new decision and my new journey.

And on Sunday I saw my unicorn friend Becca. We went to the mall and I ventured into Teavanna to get tea for Bear. Becca is pretty much my Atlanta blogging bestie and she gets me AND has group texts with my other bestie Rachael

Other than that, my life has been incredibly uneventful and boring. I am surprised that I got this much into a post.

What did you do this weekend? Was your weekend more eventful than mine!?

Keep Calm and Carry On

Summer Classes Rant {with gifs because it's necessary}

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

So this week has been interesting. As ya'll know (or if you didn't know) I am taking nine credit hours this summer. So this post is going to confess to ya'll things that annoy me about summer classes.

//Having people in group projects who go out of the country or decide to have no internet or phone service FOR AN ONLINE CLASS.
/// Doing a FOUR PART research paper and feeling like you don't even know what you are doing because you don't do anything during the one time you meet during class. Thank you but I'd rather be sunbathing.
// Doing a TON of busy work that involves numerous discussion posts, tons of pointless quizzes, and weird google docs assignments. I feel like I'd rather sit in a lecture for an hour and a half than sit and get impaled by
busy work for two and a half. BYE FELICIA

// Getting your phone blown up at 8:30a.m. about a group project THAT IS NOT COMPLICATED. But somehow everyone makes the project ten times more complicated. I just want message everyone to calm down and take a breather because this is not a BIG DEAL.
// I may have already said this but I WANT TO GO SIT AT THE POOL AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT NOT HAVING INTERNET. Please give me all the drinky drinks and pool love.

Needless to say if you can't tell I am ready for summer semester to be over and done with. PLEASE GIVE ME MY THREE WEEKS OF FREEDOM...PLEASE.

*rant over* and since I am just confessing all the things I thought it'd be appropriate to link up with Kathy

My Heart Goes Boom Boom

Sunday, June 22, 2014

I don't know about you guys but I can NOT exercise with out music. A couple of times, I have used the I don't have good enough music on my exercise playlist. One of my best friends Kayla always sends me music links and I always send her links back. I feel like music is my inspiration while I am working out. I can just tune out everything and everyone around me and get physical.

It's not that I don't like working out, it's that I need a little inspiration to get going (hence my ever changing music playlist). Real talk, it gets added to and taken away from every week. I get sick of some songs because I play them so much.

On a completely unrelated note I cannot stop listening to Chandelier by Sia. I even made it my ring tone because I want to hear it all the time (is that weird??). I am also finding so many covers of it on the interwebs and I want to share them with everybody but I am pretty certain that everyone would hate me.

While I could keep rambling for ages I am going to list off my top work out songs:

1. Rage the Night Away - Steve Aoki feat. Waka Flocka Flame
2. Chills - Down With Webster
3. Bigfoot - W&W
4. Ease My Mind - Skrillex
5. Get Me Bodied - Queen B (aka Beyonce)
6. Wasted - Tiesto
7. Strangers - Seven Lions, Myon & Shane 54
8. 2 Reasons (feat. T.I) - Trey Songz
9. Colors - Tritonal
10. Do or Die (Afrojack vs. Thirty Seconds to Mars)

I have an entire playlist of over 80 songs and it really, REALLY keeps me going during gym time. Usually I get so involved in the music I work out longer.

I love going back and forth with my best friend Kayla about good work out songs. We are constantly sending each other our playlists, it always makes for a fun workout playlist.

So, do you have a workout playlist?

If you wanna see more of my workout playlist, just send me a tweet or an email!! :)

Put It Down

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

I don't know about you but I love my phone. I love my phone a lot. I love twitter, instagram, snapchat and texting (this is a form of social media for the purpose of le post) incredibly too much. Maybe it's because two of my best friends live out of state and I love keeping in touch with them or if it's just the fact that all of those sources of communication make me feel connected and secure (weird right).

If it were not for social media and the internet world I would not have met my best friend and twin Rachael. I met Rachael through blogging and since she lives primarily in Ohio we are constantly texting, snapping, and tweeting. Our phones are our way to keep connected with each other.

However, there is something to be said about being on a phone too much, texting too much, and tweeting too much. So, now, let me explain myself because you are probably thinking that I am contradicting myself. Which I could totally see but wait for the punch line.

A couple weeks ago there was this youtube link going around about how our phones really do distract us from our daily life and our social time with friends. And while the video was harsh and a little dramatic; I found a lot of truth in the video.

And here's why.

I have been doing something recently where I don't bring my phone everywhere I go, I sometimes leave it at home and just go out to enjoy the company I have in front of me. I started putting down the phone and looking around to see how blessed I am. You see the phone will still be there when I get home and I can return all the texts, tweets, snapchats and instagrams. But what I can't get back are those little moments like when my parents and I go out to dinner and my dad does something incredibly silly, or those moments when your friends all come back into town and you all can sit and talk about what's going on in your lives with out the distraction of beeping phones and notifications.

When we are so obsorbed my our phones we forget to LOOK UP and see the beauty that the world has to offer and the blessings that life gives to you. I know, its hard and I know phones are great and social media is my passion.

But what I am starting to realize is that sometimes you can't get to know a new friend, if you are on your phone all the time when you're with them. Sometimes you have to put down the phone and disconnect to get to know someone.

I know that when I am spending quality time with Bear, or my friends I try to keep the phone out of my hands and keep my attention towards spending time with them. Social media is a blessing, I love it and I am so thankful to be so passionate about something. But I also know that there is a world past all of the notifications and alerts.

AND because it's Wednesday I am linking up with Kathy from Vodka and Soda because it's hump dayyyy.
